Recent history has seen the Czech Republic become synonymous with the city break and, with a capital as magical as Prague, it’s hardly surprising. Looking like it has come fresh from a Disney fairytale, the city is a masterpiece of medieval architecture and culture. Walk the winding cobblestone streets as you make your way to the city’s majestic castle, or watch the world go by as you sip on a pilsner in one of the many – and we mean many – bars and pubs throughout its Baroque squares.
Leave the hustle and bustle of Prague behind and you’ll venture upon UNESCO protected medieval towns like Telč, Olomouc and Český Krumlov – try pronouncing them after a few pints – where Renaissance architecture, Baroque fountains and, of course, a skyline of church spires come as standard. And for those adrenaline junkies out there, the Czech Republic provides a fare share of excitement too in the form of over 100 ski resorts, trekking opportunities in gorge-filled national parks and plenty of watersports on all those lakes. Of course, there is always the other option of relaxing, taking in the sun, and soaking your weary limbs in the mineral rich waters of the country’s many spa towns and resorts like Karlovy Vary. Oh, and the best thing about holidays to the Czech Republic? Compared to the rest of the Europe, they’re still relatively inexpensive. Now if that hasn’t sold it to you, nothing will!
With its continental climate, the Czech Republic experiences warm and hot summers. How hot? Well, expect average temperatures between May and September to be around the 22-degree mark. Having said that, it is not uncommon for temperatures to jump into the 30s on particularly hot days. Of course this is the peak season, so you’ll find the number of tourists in the country rising in line with the mercury. Head to the country in the spring and autumn if you want better value for money and fewer tourists. And winter? Chilly of course, with temperatures dropping below zero. But when a blanket of snow covers the Czech Republic and its fairytale towns, there really is nowhere prettier. Explore easyJet holidays to Czech Republic >
