Why fly to Finland?
Imagine watching the Northern Lights from the comfort of your bed, snug and warm under a pile of sheepskin blankets inside a glass igloo. Well, that’s how the locals do it in Finland.
If you like fine architecture, open spaces and some of the friendliest locals you could hope for, then the Nordic destination is for you. Igloo hotels are dotted around the Finnish countryside giving you an unmatched view of the lights and frosty landscape. Mother nature dictates much of life in Finland where crystal clear streams run through vast fields lit by the midnight sun and reindeer actually roam free. The capital Helsinki is becoming Europe’s capital of cool and boats a quirky line-up of activities and superb collection of contemporary artwork
If you say the words “national park” to a Finn there’s no mistaking which they are referring to. The view over Lake Pielinen from the top of Ukko-Koli hill is the country’s best loved national landscape and inspiration for many Finnish artists. Santa’s office can be found in Rovaniemi where the locals go to extreme lengths to add a little christmas magic for tourists every year.
There's nothing more Finnish than swimming without a stitch on. But for something a little different travelers can ride the world’s only sauna gondola in Lapland. If you’re in Helsinki there are no shortage of sauna locations, in fact there is one sauna for nearly every three Finns.
