Why fly to Lublin?
Lublin’s got it all: intriguing museums, beautiful castles, and loads of culture.
Tucked away among wavy hills and fields every shade of green, Lublin’s the perfect place for a short trip.
The Old Town’s a good place to begin: the cluster of ochre-roofed buildings and medieval pointed roofs are some of the most beautiful in Poland.
Inside the Old Town, the Tower of Trinity has jaw-slackening views towards the Lublin Castle, perched on one of the city’s four surrounding hills. The castle itself is particularly impressive, thanks to the 13th-century Neo-Gothic design and frescoes decorating the walls – yet it also has a chilling history as a former prison.
Lublin’s history isn’t just etched on its streets – there’s an intriguing underground tourist trail, which snakes from the Town Hall, through the basements of the old tenement houses and wine cellars to the church of St Michael the Archangel.
As a university town, Lublin’s got a great selection of pubs and bars, most of which are in the Old Town. For cafes and restaurants, head to the tree-lined boulevard Krakowskie Przedmiescie, which runs from the Castle, through the Old Town, to Nowy Świat. Stop by the neo-classical St. Anne’s church or the grand-looking Presidential Palace. The illustrious Bristol Hotel is a few steps away, and has welcomed everyone from Pablo Picasso to Marlene Dietrich. Lublin’s a city of festivals, with a lively schedule of dance, song, and film events happening throughout the year.
Whether you’re looking for a cultural break or short weekend away, Lublin is the ideal destination.
