Lake Bled is located only 50 km from Slovenia’s capital, so book a flight to Ljubljana and you can get there in no time. From Ljubjana airport, you can rent a car or schedule a convenient private transfer to take you to the lake, or hop on the train if you’d rather use public transport. The journey takes you through the beautiful Slovenian countryside, so it’s definitely a trip worth taking.

Spend an afternoon on the water by renting one of Bled’s iconic wooden rowboats (known as a pletna). No motorboats are allowed on the lake, so you can really relax as you row around the lake and to the island in the middle. Hop out to explore the island and climb the 99 stone steps of the iconic Assumption of Mary Church, where you’ll find panoramic views.
