The quickest way to get to Provence is flying into flying into Marseille Provence Airport (MXP). From there, you can rent a car to explore all the beautiful towns and villages around Provence. You can also take an airport shuttle to the Vitrolles Aeroport train station, which offers routes to many of the top Provence destinations including Aix-en-Provence, Avignon, and Arles. A flight to Montpelier is also an option, as it’s a similar distance to some of the area’s top destinations, including Avignon and the small Alpilles mountain range.
Provence is an area with a lot of history, but it’s as full of life today as it’s ever been. Some of France’s most interesting historical sites are located here, including the Palais des Papes in Avignon and the Pont du Gard, a roman aqueduct that crosses the Gardon river and is quite possibly the most recognizable landmark in Provence. If history’s not your thing, you can wile away the days traveling to different vineyards in the region, enjoying wine tastings and learning about how France’s most famous product is made. The area is also famous for its nature and views, so you can work up your appetite (and thirst!) by doing popular hikes like the one to the top of Mont Ventoux or by visiting villages like Gordes, which offer panoramas over the surrounding countryside
