Why fly to Corsica Calvi?
With rugged mountains, an ancient citadel and beautiful beaches and inlets right on its doorstep, Calvi's all the best bits of Corsica rolled into one.
We all know that it can be difficult to choose between a relaxing trip in the sun and an escape that's filled to the brim with adventure luckily, Calvi offers a mix of both.
Calvi's stunning beaches
With over 600 miles of coastline, there's endless beaches to choose from. Whether you prefer sandy beaches, pebbled beaches, busy or quiet, Calvi has a beach for you. One of the most popular beaches there is Plage de Calvi, and for a good reason. This beach stretches over three miles and has access to restaurants, cafes, and bars. This means that you can lay back and soak up the sun on the sand to your heart's content without having to go far for food afterwards. It even has a water transport rental centre and a diving school if you want to keep busy whilst you're there.
Things to do in Calvi Corsica
As if the expansive beaches weren't a reason enough to book flights to Calvi, it's also home to a wealth of history. The Genoese Citadel allows you to get lost in the past as you walk the cobbled streets. Due to the location of the Citadel, the views of the port and surrounding areas are almost as eagerly anticipated as the historical landmark itself.
The Chapelle de Notre Dame de la Serra, the Baroque St-Jean-Baptiste Cathedral, and the Church of Sainte Marie Majeure are all found in Calvi too. These three locations display a range of architecture, history, and beauty to investigate. The Church of Sainte Marie Majeure is particularly well known for its pink walls and has also been categorized as a historical monument. Why not spend a few afternoons wandering around these famous spots, learning about the area, and understanding the lives that came before us?
Not content with the idea of beaches and history-drenched streets? Calvi is also home to the Quai Adolphe Landry. You can have breakfast in one of the many cafes and watch the fisherman return at the marina, enjoy a calm lunch taking in the sights, or embrace the lively nightlife during the evening. The Quai Adolphe Landry is the place to be if you're looking for somewhere to discover local food and bars. With so much to see and do, this is a great place to check out whilst you're there.
Calvi's natural beauty
The charm of Calvi doesn't only reside in its man-made landmarks but in the natural ones too. The Scandola Nature Reserve is a World Heritage Site and can be visited by boat from the port. Visiting this place is sure to delight, as there's a combination of thousands of animal species being kept safe there. From dolphins and seals to foxes, boars, and bats, Scandola Nature Reserve provides a home to many wonderful creatures. There's a hiking trail up to Girolata village, that allows you to relax and take in the contrast between the sea and the cliffs made of pink volcanic rock. The sheer amount of natural beauty ensures that a trip to this reserve will definitely be memorable.
