How near is Paphos?

Paphos is about 20 minutes’ drive away, meaning you can easily take a trip to the hustle and bustle of the city before heading back to the calm of Coral Bay.

Is it hot year-round?

There’s plenty of sunshine in Coral Bay and even cooler months get a few hours on most days. In summer the sea is delightfully warm, reaching around 28°C in August.

When’s the best time to visit Coral Bay, Cyprus?

Coral Bay is very much a year-round resort. The restaurants and bars may be quieter in the winter months but there will always be something open. It’s busiest at the height of summer, of course, but never so much that you’ll be jostling for space with your inflatable crocodile. The swimming season is from May until December when the water is unlikely to drop below 20°C. The lifeguards are in place from April to October.

Is the beach sandy?

Coral Bay boasts golden sands, making it easy to walk around and head into the sea. There are also numerous sunloungers, cafés and other facilities on the beach.

What area of Cyprus is Coral Bay?

On the far west coast of the island, Coral Bay is less than an hour from the airport in Paphos. The west-facing beaches are perfect for sunset gazing, and it’s a good base if you’re looking for water sports or boat trips.

Is Coral Bay family-friendly?

This is one of the most family-friendly corners of the island. The vast, safe beach is lined with facilities, from cafes to shops selling sunscreen and beach games. This makes it an ideal base if you're on holiday with children. There are plenty of umbrellas and sun loungers. The Blue Flag beach runs for 600 metres in a crescent-shaped bay. The shallow waters are safe and calm. Some of the hotels are right on the beach, so you don’t even need to walk far before you can start making sandcastles.

What's the area like around Coral Bay?

Coral Bay itself is defined by Coral Bay Avenue that reaches all the way to the Blue Flag beach. It’s a touristy area, lined with shops, bars and restaurants. There’s live music at night but, in the winter months, it’s much quieter. Heading away from the resorts, you can reach the historical corners of Paphos in under 30 minutes by car. This includes a pretty harbour area lined with palm trees, cafes and people selling handicrafts. Heading north, it's wilder and quieter. Small villages offer glimpses into the true heart of Cyprus.

When’s the cheapest time to visit Coral Bay?

Between November and April, you’ll find the cheapest deals to Coral Bay. Many of the resorts have long stay discounts in the winter months and you’ll find plenty of people who return time and again to escape the gloomy UK winters. Although it might be a little cold for sea swimming at this time, most of the larger hotels have pools available. You can still expect temperatures around 17°C even in January and February and, with fewer people around, you'll have a relaxing retreat.

Are there historic sites near Coral Bay?

Some of the most intriguing sights in Cyprus are within easy reach of Coral Bay. Less than an hour north by car lies a hidden grotto, nestled in the shade of a fig tree, where Aphrodite is said to have bathed. The Greek Goddess of love and beauty swam here with her lover, Adonis. You can also visit the Roman archaeological sites in Paphos, including the mosaics and the Tombs of the Kings. This UNESCO World Heritage Site has tombs carved out of solid rock that can be explored all year round.
