The setting of GrandResort is, in a word: impressive. A smattering of swaying palm trees is all that sits between the hotel gardens and the deep blue beyond. The sandy beach, meanwhile, is well suited to all manner of beach babies – from the sea swimmers to the spectators on shore. There’s a great water sports offering if that’s your bag, too.

Make your way back through the trees and you’ll find a generous pool is sunk into the outdoor terrace. Then there’s a separate spot for any youngsters you’ve got in tow, complete with sprinklers and a pint-sized slide, plus a playground where they can blow off some steam on dry land. And you needn’t worry about a shortage of kid-friendly facilities here – as the hotel-run kids’ club (open during the summer) means the crowd aged four through twelve are really well catered-for.
