Korba
Take a taxi 10 minutes from the hotel to Korba, the historic heart of Heliopolis. It’s known for its distinct early 20th-century architecture, which combines Islamic and European styles. Once a hub for aristocrats and foreigners, the tree-lined streets now host a blend of modern shops, traditional coffeehouses and restored palatial homes. Make sure you stop at Abou Haidar for shawarma – the kebabs here are prized by locals.
Giza
Take a taxi for 45 minutes and you’ll approach the Giza Plateau, where urban sprawl quickly gives way to the Sahara Desert, and the Great Pyramid rises out of the sands.
