The best family resorts in Spain

Some of the best family resorts in Spain can be found along the Mediterranean coast, on the country’s south and east shores. With a warm climate and easy access to the beaches, these resorts are well-placed for family fun. There’s everything here from lively Barcelona to the quiet, serene Costa Blanca.

However, Spain’s Mediterranean coast is just one chapter in the story. Venture a bit farther to the Canary Islands to be wowed by black sand beaches and dramatic landscapes. And Majorca family holidays are a fantastic way to experience some of the best of the Balearics.

Unique family experiences in Spain

If you want to show the kids some of the world’s coolest sights, you can’t go wrong with Spain. Tenerife family holidays offer kids the chance to reach the top of a real volcano, and see the view of the island from 3555 metres. Over in Seville, you’ll have an opportunity to take in a flamenco show.

Although ‘Isle of Wild’ may not be what comes to mind when you think ‘family’, Ibiza promises fantastic family experiences. Ibiza family holidays allow your kids to explore old smuggler caverns, and set their sights on a 16th-century castle. For a more relaxing afternoon, hop on a colourful train through San Carlos de Peralta.

Family-friendly Spanish beaches

Of course, sometimes kids just want to be kids! And family-friendly beaches in Spain are ideal for building sandcastles, digging moats, and splashing around in the sea. Whether you want to take a nap under the shade of a palm, get stuck into a good book, or dip your toes into the water, you can do it here.

Benidorm family holidays are a top choice if you’re seeking out some of the best kid-friendly beaches in Spain, with Levante boasting more than 2km of sand. Or how about Cala Pregonda on the island of Menorca? With a curved bay and inlets that protect it from big waves, the water’s nice and calm for kids of all ages.

Affordable family holidays to Spain

Spanish family holidays don’t have to come with a hefty price tag. In fact, with our affordable holidays to Spain, you can bring the whole family along for less than you’d think. With flights, hotel, and 23kg of luggage included in the cost, your next family getaway could be your most affordable yet.

If you’re looking to keep costs low while you’re in Spain, ask for the ‘Menu del Dia’ in restaurants; the menu of the day. These menus typically offer a starter, main course, and dessert for one fixed price. Or order tapas to share: it’s a great way to sample new foods without breaking the bank.

Family hotels in Spain

Choosing a hotel that caters for the whole family can be a bit different to selecting a hotel just for two. Some family hotels in Spain offer special family suites which have a little more space than standard rooms. Or try self catering accommodations – these will generally have the facilities you’ll need to make up snacks for the kids.

Some of the best family holiday resorts in Spain will have an on-site kids club. Little ones will be having the time of their lives, giving adults some free time to relax or enjoy a quiet drink at the bar. There’s also a great selection of waterpark holidays to choose from. Evening entertainment like live music or dancing might be important, too, if you don’t fancy heading out every night.

Other popular family holiday destinations

The family-friendly beaches in Spain are well worth a visit. But if you’ve already enjoyed a family holiday to Spain and you’re looking for something a little different, we’ve got you covered. A good starting point is Spain’s western neighbour, Portugal, with its world-famous rugged Algarve coast.

Fancy jetting off a little further afield? Turkey’s Antalya region has something of a southern Spain vibe, with a hot Mediterranean climate and no shortage of glorious beaches. Or how about Greece, where you can enjoy a touch of island life – just like you can in the Spanish Balearics or Canaries?

Your Spain holiday questions, answered

Some of Spain’s larger hotels include almost everything you could ever want on-site, including their own waterparks. Check out hotels in Tenerife, Majorca, and on the Costa Blanca, some of which are known for their exhilarating pools. Slides vary in style from toddler-friendly to adrenaline-pumping flumes.

Some all inclusive hotels in Spain are adults-only. However, many all inclusive resorts are very family-friendly, and can be an excellent choice. If your kids are likely to work up a big appetite on the beach, all inclusive could even save you money.
Hotel prices tend to be lowest during term time. However, if you have to travel during the holidays, you may find better deals during the spring and autumn breaks rather than July and August. These are great times to visit Spain as they tend to be a little less busy than the height of summer.
