Macinaggio Holidays

Corsican coastal charm

On the northeast coast of Corsica, the small port of Macinaggio has a dramatic history out of all proportion to its size. It was here that Corsican independence leader Pascal Paoli fell to his knees and kissed the ground after his return from exile in England in 1790 – a few years later Napoleon Bonaparte passed through as well. Today, Macinaggio holidays are most likely to focus on the colourful marina and excellent local produce, as well as its position at the edge of some of Corsica’s wildest landscapes.

During holidays to Macinaggio you can explore miles of extraordinary coastline. The Site Naturel de la Capandula is a protected reserve, with the Sentier des Douaniers footpath taking you to beaches, coves and cliffs inaccessible by road. Hike, swim and explore this unique landscape to your heart’s content, and be back in Macinaggio for an excellent Corsican dinner.
