Modern stay in Wandsbek
This quirky design hotel is conveniently located a short walk from S-Bahn and U-Bahn stations, meaning you can easily get into the centre of Hamburg within 15 minutes. Inside, the hotel is decorated with vibrant murals and designs by emerging local artists, who have taken their cues from Hamburg’s brewery traditions – which is also where the hotel gets its name ‘Keg’.
The ‘living lobby’ acts as the hotel’s social hub. It’s an open-plan space where you can hang out with other guests, enjoy a coffee or beer and perhaps a snack, before heading out to explore the city. In the morning, you can make yourself a plate of delicious hot and cold food items from the breakfast buffet, while the bar serves drinks and snacks 24-hours a day.
All rooms are fully-equipped with Wi-Fi, bluetooth speakers, and large, comfortable beds, so you’ll wake up feeling refreshed and ready to tackle the bustling city of Hamburg.

What the niu Keg has to offer
Miniatur Wunderland
Sprawling over 1,500 square metres with 15,400 metres of track, the Miniatur Wunderland is the largest model railway museum in the world. The attention to detail is impressive – from miniature replicas of Hamburg to meticulously crafted landscapes of Austria, Scandinavia, and the Grand Canyon. Appropriately, you can hop on a train and get there in 30 minutes from the hotel.
St Pauli Fischmarkt
If you’re in town over the weekend, you won’t want to miss this Hamburg institution. A 30-minute train ride from the hotel, this market has been pulling in the crowds every Sunday since 1703. As the name suggests, there’s plenty of fresh seafood to tuck into, alongside fruits and vegetables, flowers, clothes - and it’s a great breakfast spot. The bustling atmosphere is usually complimented by a band or two playing live jazz.
Getting around
Just a short walk from the hotel, you’ll find plenty of nice shops and places to eat. Wandsbeker Chaussee station is less than a five-minute walk from the hotel, where you can jump on either U-Bahn and S-Bahn lines to reach Hamburg Central in approximately 15 minutes.
