There are two excellent beaches to choose from on holidays to Lassi – Makris Gialos, which translates as ‘long sandy beach’, and Platis Gialos, meaning ‘wide sandy beach’. After a long day of enjoying the seaside ambience, you’ll have your pick of excellent bars and restaurants. The resort’s main street is lined with everything from romantic tavernas to lively grill houses, so you can try a variety of different venues during your stay.

The beaches here are fun with plenty going on, so it’s a great place for people-watching. There are also a number of archaeological sites nearby, and Argostoli, the capital, is not far away.
Lassi has plenty of beaches within walking distance and more a short bus or taxi ride away. You might choose a Lassi holiday simply for the selection of beaches. Most of them are sandy with clear waters suitable for swimming. Lassi is popular for watersports enthusiasts and there are a few places offering boat hire, scuba diving, snorkelling and more, so you can enjoy exploring the unspoilt coastline. You may even spot a few dolphins around the Gulf of Argostoli.
The summer months are peak season and when the resort is at its liveliest. Spring is very pleasant if you prefer the temperatures moderate rather than hot.
Lassi has plenty to do in the evening. After a late dinner, those who don’t want to head to bed will find a small selection of bars with music and dancing until the small hours. If you want a livelier atmosphere, the island’s capital of Argostoli is just a five-minute taxi ride away. Argostoli has a main square where, at night, there are several bars to choose from, and there are a few all-night clubs for those wild nights out. Lassi is the perfect spot if you like nightlife but still want some peace.
Lassi is a very family-friendly destination that has a welcoming atmosphere and plenty to do. There are lots of family-friendly hotels in Lassi. Most restaurants welcome children, with kids’ menus for smaller appetites. Kids love the beaches in the Lassi area. They’re flat and sandy with plenty of space to play. Many of the local beaches have shallow areas, so they can paddle and splash around. If you buy a snorkel from a local beachwear shop, they can look out for fish. You can always rent a boat for a family day to explore.
Lassi is close to Argostoli, the capital of Kefalonia, so it’s an easy day trip. It’s a 5-minute cab ride and regular buses run between the towns, both of which are inexpensive ways to get around. Another option is to walk one way. While the distance is short, it’s a hilly, rocky walk so it can take up to an hour. Make sure you wear comfortable footwear and take water with you for the journey. While it can be hard work in places, it’s worth it for the views along the way.
You don’t need to rent a car to enjoy a holiday in Lassi. There are plenty of beaches within walking distance, plus buses and cabs to nearby towns. However, if you want to explore further, it’s worth considering car hire as it gives you more freedom. One area that’s worth exploring by car is the nearby Paliki Peninsula. An unspoilt area of Kefalonia, this peninsula is surrounded by beaches, many of them with white sands and some unique red sand beaches in the south.
Lassi is a great town for couples who want a romantic break away from it all. From the cosy tavernas to the long sandy beaches, there’s plenty to do both day and night. You can enjoy walks or rent a car to find peaceful spots along the coast, or visit ancient sites and learn about the history of the island. In the evening, you can enjoy a few drinks together, or take a taxi to Argostoli for a party atmosphere.
