Methoni Holidays

MAKE FOR MARVELLOUS, MEDIAEVAL METHONI

Pitch up on the picturesque Peloponnese coast and marvel at the wonders of Methoni. This charming village in the southwestern part of the Peloponnese in Greece, offers interesting history, natural beauty, and that traditional Greek charm we all know and love. With its stunning landscapes and cultural heritage, Methoni is somewhat of a hidden gem that’s begging to be explored.

One of Methoni’s main draws is its magnificent mediaeval castle, one of the most impressive fortresses in Greece. The Methoni Castle, built by the Venetians in the 13th century, stretches out into the Ionian Sea and is connected to the mainland by a stone bridge. Journey back in time as you explore the castle’s well-preserved walls, towers, and the iconic Bourtzi fortress. Go for the history, but stay for the stunning views of the sea and the surrounding area.

The village itself is everything you’d imagine of a cute Greek destination – it’s a serene haven with narrow streets, traditional houses, and charming tavernas where you can enjoy delicious Greek cuisine. Get plates full of fresh seafood, gallons of local olive oil, and plenty of traditional Greek dishes when you dive into Methoni’s food scene.

If you fancy basking in the sunshine, the beautiful beaches, such as the sandy Methoni Beach, are perfect for relaxation and swimming in the crystal-clear waters of the Ionian Sea. The calm, shallow waters make it ideal for families, while the scenic views provide the perfect backdrop for sunbathing and leisurely walks. What’s not to love about this magical little slice of Greece?
