The hot dry summers and mild winters mean Faliraki is a year-round destination. If you want to bask under the sun, go from May or even April through to November. The winter months are when you’ll find the discounts and there’s still a high chance of rain-free days to explore the beautiful, historic island – without being crowded out by thousands of other tourists.

How about culture?

If you think there’s no culture to be found here, you’d be wrong – there are some gorgeous ruins and an old monastery on the outskirts of the town.

What’s the nightlife like in Faliraki?

Faliraki is known for its party atmosphere and the nightlife that brings people here is some of the wildest in Europe. Drink prices are reasonable and it’s the sort of place you’ll find endless two-for-one offers. Clubs with impossibly loud music thump their tunes through to sunrise, and bars with live music draw huge crowds. There’s even a handful of sports bars, so you never need to miss a big game from back home. With restaurants offering cuisine from around the world, there’s something for everyone in Faliraki.

Is Faliraki family-friendly?

While Faliraki may be known as a party capital, it’s also very popular with families. The long sandy beach provides enough space for everyone, and there are lifeguards on duty in the summer. The town also has one of Europe’s largest waterparks. It has areas set aside specifically for families and toddlers, including a lazy river and twisting, tumbling slides. Many of the bars have family-friendly entertainment and menus with kids in mind, and there are water sports on the beach that everyone can take part in.

Is Faliraki a party place?

This is known as one of the party capitals of Europe. There’s a huge party scene here with bars and clubs filled to bursting and people dancing and drinking the night away. But this is mostly contained in a single long strip and there’s plenty of space for families or couples looking for something a little different in their holidays. With five kilometres of beach out front, there’s room for all to share the space.

How far is Faliraki from Rhodes Town?

It’s only a 20-minute drive from Rhodes Town down to Faliraki; you can land at the airport and be on the beach within the hour. The coastal route takes only a few minutes longer, and it’s worth it for the views and sparkling sea. Rhodes Town is definitely worth exploring. This medieval town is a network of more than 200 streets and alleyways, a labyrinth of ancient churches, charming cafes, crumbling fortresses and unique, quirky shops. It’s one of a handful of mediaeval cities left in the world, living history waiting to be explored.

What day trips can you take from Faliraki?

In addition to nearby Rhodes Town, there are plenty of diverse day trip options. Head inland for 30 minutes by car to the enchanting Valley of the Butterflies; a network of pathways and wooden bridges lead through the forest and from May to late September it is draped in butterflies. Or go south for 40 minutes along the coast road to Lindos and its archaeological sites covering 5000 years of human history. The village is packed with charming traditional cottages, overlooked by an impressive Acropolis. Rhodes may be small but it is packed with drama and discovery.
