Comfortable stay near the Reykjavik seafront
Set a stone’s throw away from Reykjavik's seafront, and a 15-minute walk from the city’s main shopping street, the Cabin Hotel offers an ideal budget-friendly base in the Icelandic capital, whether you’re looking for a whistle-stop city break or a longer stay.
The location is convenient without being right in the city centre; it'll take you around 25 minutes to walk to the famous Hallgrimskirkja in one direction, and around 20 minutes in the opposite direction to Reykjavik Park and Zoo. Laugardalslaug, Iceland's largest thermal swimming pool complex, meanwhile, is just 10 minutes away on foot.
Back at the hotel, you’ll find a small souvenir shop and lots of information pamphlets in the lobby, and a breakfast area serving up a buffet of freshly baked bread, jams, and cereals. The lounge bar, meanwhile, runs regular happy hour deals and is a great place to unwind after a day of exploring.

What Cabin Hotel has to offer
Hlemmur Mathöll
Housed within a former bus terminal, this trendy street food hall is a fantastic place to grab a bite to eat or something to drink, featuring everything from traditional Icelandic cuisine to Neapolitan-style pizzas and tacos. It's around a 15-minute walk from the hotel.
Laugavegur
Around a 10-15 minute stroll away from the hotel you'll find yourself on Reykjavik's primary shopping avenue, Laugavegur. It's got everything from souvenir stores and fashion boutiques to artisan bakeries and cocktail bars. It's practically impossible to visit the Icelandic capital without strolling up and down this bustling street a handful of times.
Sun Voyager
Head down to the waterfront and walk for 15-20 minutes towards the city centre, and you'll soon arrive at one of Reykjavik’s most famous sculptures and prime photo hotspots – the Sun Voyager. Designed by Icelandic sculptor Jón Gunnar Árnason during the 1980s, it has remained in its present day location since 1990 and represents "the promise of undiscovered territory, a dream of hope, progress and freedom”.
