Chic stay in central Reykjavik

ION City Hotel couldn’t be any more central if it tried – it’s snagged a coveted spot on Reykjavik’s main street, close to shops, bars, and restaurants. With everything practically on the doorstep, this is the perfect spot for exploring what the city has to offer.

You won’t be short on things to do here. Down at the harbour – just a 10-minute stroll away – you can head out on a whale watching tour, or spend an afternoon exploring the Whales of Iceland museum. The shoreline is a great place for a ramble, too, with its views out over the bay and of Mt. Esja. In the downtown district – about 6 minutes’ walk from the hotel – you’ll find Hallgrimskirkja Church. Head to the top of the tower for a view out over the city that’s straight off a postcard.

Back at the hotel you’ll find the rooms are modern and airy with big, comfy beds – perfect for relaxing with a cup of coffee from the in-room Nespresso machine. Breakfast is served à la carte in the hotel restaurant, which come the evening serves up a mix of Icelandic, Lebanese, and Moroccan dishes. The on-site bar serves up a mean cocktail, too.
