Opening up like a fan from the Lungomare Amendola (the seafront promenade), the strand is considered to be the nicest and largest beach on the Amalfi Coast. Named after the Reginna Maior River which burst its banks in 1954 and destroyed much of the ancient town. Subsequently rebuilt, Maiori has a more modern look than its neighbours.
