A characterful Italian gem
One of Italy’s most characterful villages, Sampieri boasts a 2-kilometre stretch of pale-gold sand, edged by an aquamarine sea and backed by dunes and a pine forest. Sampieri holidays are ideal for beach fans looking to bask in unspoilt surroundings on the popular island of Sicily. At one end of the beach there’s the much-photographed shell of an imposing former Penna furnace and chimney, part of a brickyard built in 1909, and now a popular TV filming location. There’s also a plateau jutting into the sea, where the underwater landscape makes for great snorkelling fun.
The small village includes a collection of white and cream stone houses, with photogenic royal-blue fishing boats pulled up on the shore, and a wide promenade. For those who fancy a break from relaxing on the beach or wandering around the village, holidays to Sampieri can include visiting the interesting towns and coastline surrounding it.
