Just a short train ride from Sorrento
Meta is a small resort town in Italy’s Campania region, a touch outside of Sorrento (just a seven-minute train journey, in fact). It’s an ideal spot for those looking for something more peaceful while still being within easy exploring distance of the Amalfi Coast.
The seafront town overlooks the Bay of Naples, and one of its highlights is its sandy beach formed by Vesuvius’ volcanic sand. Lovely though it is down on the beach, you’ll get the best view of the scenery by heading up the hillside. From the Belvedere viewing point, you’ll get a sensational panorama of the coastline.
There’s no shortage of traditional Italian eateries, and it’s not hard to come by authentic Neapolitan pizza, fresh seafood, and a variety of regional dishes that showcase the flavours of Campania, whether you want to enjoy it from a casual beachside cafe or an elegant, traditional restaurant.
