Comfort and style in the heart of Florence
Once part of a Renaissance palace, Hotel Cosimo de Medici has been lovingly restored into an elegant retreat that combines the finest modern comforts with beautiful original features. Best of all, the hotel is right in the centre of the city near all the iconic landmarks, and only a three-minute walk from the main train station, which offers easy links to other Italian regions – perfect for day trips.
The Italians know a thing or two when it comes to coffee, and the stuff they serve here lives up to its promise. Enjoy unlimited cups with your breakfast, which includes a bountiful buffet of Italian treats like freshly baked pastries, cured meats, and cheeses. There are hot options, too – who can say no to bacon and eggs?
The rooms are stunning, with high ceilings, large windows, and elegant furnishings. The use of state-of-the-art building materials during the renovation means they’re completely soundproof. Combine that with orthopaedic mattresses and air conditioning, and you’re sure to get a fantastic night’s sleep!

What Cosimo de Medici has to offer
Florence Cathedral
The Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore is an iconic masterpiece of Italian Gothic architecture that looms over the city, and it’s less than a 10-minute walk from the hotel. Renowned for its magnificent red-tiled dome, engineered by Filippo Brunelleschi, it took over 140 years to build. The cathedral’s exterior is adorned with a mesmerising mix of pink, white, and green marble, embodying the opulence of the Renaissance era. Inside, you’ll find exquisite artworks, including frescoes and stained glass, that attract millions of visitors each year.
Food & drink
Tuscan food is some of the best in Italy and you’ll be spoilt for choice during your stay – Florence is packed with family-run trattorias, pizzerias, and high-end ristorantes. The food is known for its simplicity, using seasonal produce from the surrounding region. The city’s most famous dish is the enormous florentine steak, but for the more adventurous there’s trippa alla fiorentina – tripe with tomato sauce and vegetables. A delicacy not for the faint of heart!
Ponte Vecchio
This beautiful mediaeval stone bridge is the only bridge in the city that survived the Second World War. It links up some of Florence’s most popular sights, with the Piazza del Duomo and Piazza della Signoria on one side and the Oltrarno on the other. Lined with shops that were once occupied by butchers, tanners, and farmers, you can now take a stroll across the Arno River and browse a selection of fine jewellery and artwork.
