There’s plenty within strolling distance, though, so why not head out on foot first? Wawel Royal Castle – an impressive 13^th century structure that overlooks the Vistula River – is a must-see. Home to an art museum as well as being a work of art in its own right, the grounds are well worth a wander around. And it’s just six minutes’ walk from the apartments. For quirky shops and cosy bars, meanwhile, the Jewish Quarter of Kazimierz (about 15 minutes’ stroll away) is the place to be.
