Set on a hillside overlooking the most southerly tip of the island, this popular seaside resort captures two of the best things about Madeira: lush gardens and striking sea views.

The hotel takes its name from the promenade directly behind it that winds along the coastline – leading to the Lido Beach Club in one direction and Praia Formosa in the other. It’s about a 15-minute drive to the centre of Funchal, where you’ll find plenty of bars, cafés and restaurants.
