Iconic, five-star hotel in an upmarket area
Inspired by the glitz and glamour of the roaring 20s, the five-star El Palace is situated just a few blocks from Passeig de Gràcia, often labelled Barcelona’s most luxurious avenue. Boasting famous connections, the hotel was once home to Rolling Stones legend Ronnie Wood and the world-famous artist Salvador Dali.
When you want to relax in style, the rooftop pool is a lovely spot for a swim, and there’s a Mayan-themed spa with six treatment rooms and a sauna. You’ll also have access to a gym, if all that relaxing gets too much.
Breakfast at this hotel is a glamorous affair, with a large buffet served in a grand room featuring a stone fountain in its centre. Alternatively, ‘The Hall’ dishes up tapas and Mediterranean fare in an elegant setting, or head to the Rooftop Garden for sandwiches and snacks.
At dinner, Amar Restaurant is run by renowned head chef Rafa Zafra, and serves upmarket seafood dishes in a spectacular navy and gold dining room. After eating, head to the Bluesman Cocktail Bar, located in the hotel’s basement. Here you can enjoy live music at the weekend and a glitzy atmosphere that looks like it’s been lifted straight out of The Great Gatsby.
