The Elba Lanzarote Royal Village Resort is a sanctuary for families looking for a little luxury. This good-looking complex is designed in the style of a traditional island hamlet, with gleaming whitewashed buildings with domed rooftops spread among tropical gardens. It’s on the outskirts of Playa Blanca, so you can expect sleepy surroundings. A shuttle bus runs to Playa Dorada beach when you fancy a change of scene, too.

Families give the five swimming pools here a massive thumbs up, and little ones will love the miniature splash park, which comes with slides and tipping buckets. The waterside terraces are well-equipped with loungers and parasols, and over 16s can make use of the swish Bali beds.

Activities-wise, there’s everything from volleyball to yoga laid on during the day, and night-time events include shows, live music and karaoke. Children can have their own fun at the kids’ club, giving adults time to relax in the state-of-the-art spa.

You get a choice of restaurants and bars here, as well. There’s an international buffet eatery, plus two a la carte restaurants dishing up elegant French and Italian cuisine. And if you fancy a night or two dining out, it’s just a 10-minute walk to the plentiful restaurants in Playa Blanca’s resort centre.
