Ultra-convenient Madrid base
It doesn’t get much more central and convenient than this when it comes to finding an ideal base for a city break in Madrid. From Hotel Ganivet, you’re just a 10-15 minute walk away from the iconic Plaza Mayor and only a little further from the Puerta del Sol, right in the heart of the city.
The nearest metro station, Puerta de Toledo, is only a few steps away, so you can easily get around the city via public transport as well. A plentiful buffet breakfast is available in the mornings, while the rooftop jacuzzi (open in summer) is the perfect place to cool off with a refreshing dip after a day of sightseeing.
You’ll have all you need for a comfortable and restful stay in the quiet, cosy rooms, each one fitted with air conditioning, free wi-fi and a television.

What Ganivet has to offer
Plaza Mayor
Once the site of Madrid’s most popular food market, the Plaza Mayor is one of Madrid’s most treasured landmarks and cultural spaces, whose origins can be traced all the way back over 400 years. Today, it’s lined with dozens of bars and restaurants, also hosting all kinds of concerts and festivals, as well as the annual Madrid Christmas Market. Whether you fancy stopping by for a cup of coffee, a beer, some tapas or simply to soak up the ambience and people watch, it’s a must-visit – and it’ll only take you 10-15 minutes to walk there from the hotel.
Royal Palace of Madrid
Not only is the Royal Palace of Madrid one of the city’s most majestic architectural landmarks, flanked by beautifully manicured gardens and ornate fountains, it’s also the largest functioning royal palace in Europe, covering a total area of over 135,000 square metres. It’s a spectacular sight to behold, both from the outside and the interior (tickets are required to go inside). You can get there in 15 minutes on foot from the hotel.
Public transport
As well as being superbly located for exploring the city centre on foot, the hotel also has easy access to nearby public transport links, with several bus stops and a metro station (Puerta de Toledo) just a few steps away on the same road. These are ideal for getting to attractions that are slightly further out, such as the Plaza de España, Retiro Park and Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, the home of Real Madrid.
