Another one of Pula's Roman highlights would be the Forum, which is now the city's main square. Leading off the Forum is the city's busiest and most lively shopping street, Sergijevaca Street. Home to all kinds of shops, this is where you'll find some great souvenirs to take home. Local Istrian wines, especially Malvazija and Teran, are among the most popular items to buy here.
Visiting the Brijuni National Park from Pula
Pula is a very energetic city, but it's also just moments away from one of Croatia's most relaxing places, the Brijuni National Park. If hiring a car isn't for you, don't worry. There is a local bus service from Pula to Fazana, which takes just 20 minutes. It's a quick 10-minute ferry ride to the island from there. You'll find some of the oldest olive trees in the Mediterranean here. But the main reason many people make this trip is to see the dinosaur footprints. There are more than 200 footprints throughout the park. If you're travelling with kids, you won't want to miss this.
Pula's unique culinary scene
Istrian cuisine is a unique blend of Italian, Austrian, and Hungarian flavours, with lots of delicious dishes to try. Prsut is very popular, a thinly sliced dried ham that can be thought of as the Croatian equivalent to prosciutto or Iberico ham. Istria is also famous for its truffles, which you'll find in everything from risotto to pasta, sauces and salad dressings.
